German delegation visited City and Regional Planning (CRP) Department UET Lahore for kick-off workshop on ‘Planning in Germany and Pakistan: Responding Challenges of Climate Change through Intercultural Dialogue

Academics from Dortmund University Germany finalized the training activities, schedules, and students selection criteria for the exchange study program. The duration of the program will be three years and it will consist of a ten-day visit of Pakistani students to Germany in Summer and German students’ visit to Pakistan in winter in year 2022. Chairman CRP Prof. Dr. Shaker Mahmood briefed about the years long negotiations that concluded in securing the DAAD funded project. After that, members of German delegation Dr. Gruehn, talked about the salient details of the program and informed the audience about various activities under this international exchange study program they have successfully undertaken. Further, welcome addresses from Vice Chancellor of LCWU and Chairman CRP were delivered. They emphasized the importance of international student interaction. The session was concluded by the address of Vice Chancellor UET Lahore Prof. Dr. Syed Mansoor Sarwar. He extended warm welcome to the German guests, appreciated their efforts and promised his support for the future cooperation between the participating universities. Shields were presented at the end to the honorable guests as a token  of thanks. The second day started with discussion between the German academic panel and officials of City and Regional Planning Department. They finalized the criteria for selection of the participants in the upcoming summer school to Germany in August 2022.  They emphasized focus on climate change research ۔At the end of the day Guests visited historical places of Lahore. Third day started with finalization of the project details. They visited Bhiki Power plant and concluded the visit. They loved to visit Pakistan's cultural places specially they enjoyed traditional food.
